Project Architect

Status: CD for suites and main public buildings complete. Site works on hold.

Bagan is a Unesco World Heritage Site containing over 3000 pagodas from the 11th century in central Myanmar. The site is a riverside toddy plam grove on the edge of Bagan archiological site. The brief is for a 5 star resort with over 54 keys + large function capabilities. Our proposal creates 3 main zones; Farm, Lake and Palace. The farm and lake are soft landscapes based on the existing geography and planting. The palace is sequence of terraces stepping down to the river which maximises views and protects the site from river erosion. The main public buildings are 5 pavilions in the local tradition, including timber construction methods.
